Bask in the sun on the upper deck of the boat, or if you prefer, relax downstairs with a coffee and play backgammon with the crew, either way keep your eyes peeled for dolphins , flying fish and sea turtles with are abundant. If your hesitant about boats dont worry, this holds upto 150 people so far from a rubber dingy!

Our 12 island boat tour usually makes 5 stops, including:

  • Gobun Bay or Cavy Bay
  • Cleopatra's Baths
  • Dockyard Island
  • The Flat Islands
  • Red Island or Samanlik Bay

Gobun Bay

The first stop, Gobun bay, is placed in the south-western coast of the Fethiye Gulf, and is a very calm with crystal clear water, 7-10m. in depth. Just like all bays in the area, the calmness of the bay makes it feel more like a lake. There's a small cafe-restaurant which is run by a local family, mainly frequented by sailors stopping overnight.

On the shore lies a small naturally made cave in the rocks, and a stairway leading up to it, again completely natural.

Cleopatra'a Baths

Cleopatra's Baths, (actually The bay of Cleopatra's Baths), is a large bay full of pine trees with a dark blue sea which gently gradients to a beautiful light blue as it reaches the shore. In the south western part of the bay lies some ruins to explore, victims of the many earthquakes that have shaken Fethiye over the centuries.

According to myth, in a visit from Cleopatra to the Anatolian coast her close friends decided to build a Roman Bath for Cleopatra as a present where they had found a hot water spring. The mineral-rich water here had very beneficial properties on the skin, some claiming it to be the mystery behind the beauty of Cleopatra.

If you look at the bottom of the sea where the ruins are early in the morning before there's any wind you'll see the sand moving showing that there's still hot water coming out today. So if you want to try your chance to be as beautiful as Cleopatra and to look 10 years younger, you're allowed to swim around and in the ruins of Cleopatra's baths.

Dockyard Island

The next stop, Dockyard Island, is the first Island you'll see in the tour which is called the 12 Islands Boat Cruise (the ones before were semi-islands). Here resides a shallow bay where the water comes towards the land, just like a lake.

Its not until you approach the island that you see the well disguised bay and the ruins which once belonged to the early Greek people lived here in peace during the Ottoman Empire times. The shallow waters of the bay made it an ideal place for the Greek and Turkish people who once lived here to build ships, coining the name Dockyard Island.

Flat Islands

Flat Islands, are a group of islands extremely close to each other located opposite the Gocek town. In the middle of the long sandy stretch of beach on the island is a beautiful pool of clear, dark blue and very deep water. Pass from the biggest island to the smallest easily on foot as the water bridging the islands is only 1.5m deep.

To the north, there's a long, sandy beach leading to a lake, where there are two families who come every morning from the Gocek town selling delicious pan-cakes and pastries. For those looking for some excitement there's banana boating, ringo and water skiing available, and for those who simply fancy a bite to eat there's a big boat used as a restaurant on this island.

Red Island - Samanlik Bay

On the way back, your captain will choose one of the two suitable bays. If he chooses the Red Island you'll enjoy the crystal clear sea and the clean shore of this island, an undeniably beautiful location. Swim to the shore, which is only a few meters from the boat; and after getting on again, you can enjoy the sunset with a coffee or Sunset Cocktail.

If you go to the Samanlik bay it's a very similar story, again you can jump (or dive?) from the top of the boat, and let the other passengers watch you under the water just like an aquarium from the hull of the boat. Don't forget that this one is your last chance to swim, and you'll be back in the Fethiye Harbour in 30 minutes!

Fethiye 12 Island Boat Cruise
The 12 island boat cruise is another excellently planned day, relaxing, fun and some beautiful scenery from the boat. We found this a great tour to do half way through our holiday for something a bit different, we didn\'t see any dolphins but we did see some lovely turtles and plenty of colourful fish.

Again thoroughly recommended

What a fantastic day!! Me and my boyfriend wanted to to Oludeniz because of the beautiful beaches, and this is definitely the way to make the most of them!

As the marketing speel says, it really is just a day out eating, drinking, spotting wildlife and having a lot of fun. The boat wasn't the newest but had a lot of character and a great atmosphere.

If you're after an easy going day that gives you the chance to see some stunning beaches then I cant recommend this trip highly enough xx
